Have A Happy New Year Hunting…
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Well, Hunting season is FULLY here!! I got to enjoy this morning (New Years Day) doing one thing that I LOVE, duck hunting. The coolest part was that it was with one of my students. Once you have met “Big A” (Anthony) you will NEVER forget him!!! He is a sophomore at Obion Central High school and plays football and basketball. The reason we call him Big A is because he is a giant of a dude! He is 16 years old, 6 foot 2 inches and weighs 320 lbs. But he is a gentle giant to say the least. We had a blast and grew closer to each other as we shared favorite hunting stories and laughed as we talked about his high school friends and the stuff they do. Even the bad things that he chooses not to participate in. He reminded me about the time that he accepted Christ a few years ago at youth camp, I had the privilege of leading him through the sinners prayer. It was so encouraging to me as an adult to be able to share with a young man that knows the difference between right and wrong, and truly wants to make GOOD choices. As a student minister it seems that teenagers like Big A are hard to find these days.
You know we all as Christians are to spend time investing in people to help them grow in their faith! This is one on my new years resolutions, to invest in the lives of others. We did end up harvesting a few ducks, but did not bag the limits. In the hunting world we did not have a stellar day but in my world this morning was AWESOME!!!! Thank You Big A for encouraging me to live different this new year of 2011.
What is your resolution? Maybe you don’t do resolutions, but need to just make a decision to be ALL that He wants you to be!
Happy New Year and may God use you in a mighty way to encourage others.

BEAUTIFUL!!!!
I just LOVE this time of year!! Here in Union City, the weather has been just BEAUTIFUL!! The highs this week have been in the low to mid 70′s. I absolutely LOVE this time of year! Bow season opened last Sat. and I got to sit in a tree and watch the sun rise. I do not understand how someone could watch a sunrise and not wonder or marvel at the God that created it! Just wanted to say that I am humbled to serve such a Great God! I am SO glad that he forgives me of all the dumb things that I do! I also wanted to say that I LOVE my precious wife!! I am SO blessed that I married someone SO patient and caring!
Life is Great and God is GOOD!!!!!

BP OIL SPILL NEWS!!!!
In Alaska in 1988 the giant oil tanker Exxon Valdez spilled 11 million gallons of oil into the Prince William Sound. It was said to have contaminated more than 1200 miles of the beautiful shoreline (distance from TN to Maine). There were more than 1,000 sea otters and 100,000 birds, including 150 bald eagles, and thousands more wildlife that were killed as a result of that accident. Losses to the fishing industry exceeded $100 billion. Even though I was only 6 years old when this spill happened I still remember seeing it on tv.
Even though the Valdez oil spill sounds bad it is now the 35th largest oil spill in history. (As a matter of fact the smallest oil spill of the top ten largest in the world was four times larger than the Valdez.)
The BP oil spill has taken us all by surprise!!! We can’t really even fathom how much oil is leaking right now in the gulf. Right now it is number 3 on the list of largest oil spills in History. New figures state that Deepwater Horizon is producing an Exxon Valdez-size spill every five to 13 days. WOW!!! Most experts believe there is more oil gushing into the sea in an hour than officials originally said was spilling in an entire day. So far, an estimated 82- 100 million gallons of oil have leaked into the Gulf of Mexico. Everything BP has tried to stop the largest oil spill in history has failed. The company has tried everything from “junk shots” to “top kill” to containment domes, and is still spending $100 million a day to try to cap the well and clean up the mess. I can’t fathom that amount of dough….
To put things into perspective lets talk about a few other oil spills in history.
Making the list now as the number 6 largest was in the Persian Gulf – 1983 – over 80 million gallons were spilled, almost 8 times larger than the Valdez. A tanker collided with a drilling platform, it eventually, collapsed into the sea. The well continued to spill oil into the ocean for seven months before it was repaired. Check it out.

Number 2 on the list is the Ixtoc 1 Oil Spill it happened on June 3, 1979 in the Bay of Campeche in Mexico. The amount spilled was 140 million gallons
Like the current Gulf oil spill, this spill involve a tanker, but rather an offshore oil well. Pemex, a state-owned Mexican petroleum company was drilling an oil well when a blowout occurred, the oil ignited and the drilling rig to collapse. Oil began gushing out of the well into the Gulf of Mexico at a rate of 10,000 to 30,000 barrels a day for almost an entire year before workers were finally able to cap the well.
But wait…
This is INSANE CRAZY!!!!!
The #1 largest oil spill that the world has ever known was in Kuwait in 1991. This was no accident when over 520 million gallons of oil was deliberately released into the water by iraqi forces. They opened the valves of several oil tankers in order to slow the invasion of American troops. The oil slick was four inches thick and covered 4,000 square miles of ocean.
That’s almost four times the size of the state of Rhode Island, at four inches thick. If you spread the oil out 1/2 an inch thick, which would not be fun to swim in, it would be enough to cover 32,000 square miles, which is larger than the state of South Carolina at only 30,109.47 square miles.
That’s a lot of oil!!! Hard to fathom!!! Quite a disaster don’t you think?
Here’s what’s sad.
Out of the mouths of so many people today are nothing but disasters, oil spills, pollutants.
I can’t stand to hear people curse like a sailor (heard it last night) or bad mouth someone else, or gossip.
Out of our mouths we curse people that God has made, people that we are supposed to love, people that are in our own families. People that are PRICELESS!!! Relationships are hurting for years and years because of what we do with our mouths. My favorite book in the Bible, James says:
James 3:7-10 (The Message)
7-9 This is scary: You can tame a tiger, but you can’t tame a tongue—it’s never been done. The tongue runs wild, a wanton killer. With our tongues we bless God our Father; with the same tongues we curse the very men and women he made in his image. Curses and blessings out of the same mouth!
10-12My friends, this can’t go on. A spring doesn’t gush fresh water one day and brackish the next, does it? Apple trees don’t bear strawberries, do they? Raspberry bushes don’t bear apples, do they? You’re not going to dip into a polluted mud hole and get a cup of clear, cool water, are you?
OIL AND WATER DON’T MIX!!
Do your words help or harm? Do they bruise or build-up? Do you Encourage or Discourage? What if every stranger, classmate, co-worker or family member were living his/her last day on earth? Could you live the rest of your life knowing that your words were edifying, encouraging?
Are you polluting this earth with your insults about others appearance, intellect, self-worth, behavior and value? Why is it SO easy to put others down? Because it makes us feel better about our insecurities?
Do you need to ask God’s forgiveness for the oil that you have deliberately spilled on others (with or without their knowledge). Do you need to do some major clean-up in your relationships from the leaks of verbal crude comments? Do you need to go to someone and ask forgiveness before your relationship drowns? If you don’t it will be costly!! Let God be your solution!!
Do whatever it takes to clean-up the relationships that you will only have once on this earth.

Synergy project 2010.
The Synergy project 2010 was amazing!!! Soooo many students lives were changed through the missions projects and worship services. The service last night was unexplainable!!! WHY????
Happy Birthday Mom!!! LOVE YOU!!!!
When we were kids one of the first things that we like to ask was WHY?? WHY? WHY? WHY? You can hear a child asking now why? What for? Where? Even to the point that it annoys us!!! But that’s part of the learning process right?? It seems like Am like this with My Heavenly father at times.
In my current situation here are a few scripture verses that God keeps bringing up in my Life when I ask WHY???
Prov. 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge (follow) Him and He will direct your paths.” You see, we have to TRUST the Lord in ALL things, even in things that we don’t understand!! Now let me share why this verse is real to me right now. as most of you know, Brandi and I have lived in TN for 2 1/2 years, and we still have a house for sale in Tallassee, AL. It was our dream house (and first house) that we bought 6 months before God called us up here. I still DON’T understand why it hasn’t sold?? but I MUST TRUST that God is still in control, and that He is still on the throne!!! Even when I don’t understand why the house hasn’t sold!!When i don’t understand why we have to TOTALLY depend on God to meet our financial needs!! Why God WHY?? (To myself… Stop asking why and just trust!!)
Another verse that God really uses in my life is.. Matthew 6:33 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. When we seek Him with all our hearts, when Jesus is our number 1 focus everything else will fall in its place. Another way that I like to look at it is when we seek God, the things that He thinks are most important to us will be the things that we think are important. Whatever it may be!! Please pray for God to sell our house, and for His provision in our lives!!!
HE has blessed us more than we deserve!!!

Thanksgiving dinner…..
Last monday afternoon I finally killed my first Turkey. I don’t know if harvesting the turkey was more exciting or almost getting bit by a snake about a minute before I shot this nice tom. I would like to personally thank Stevie Brown for taking me hunting on his private ground. This was an experience that has been a long time coming. This is the beginning of the year 6 turkey hunting for me. I was convinced that if i didn’t get to harvest a turkey this year i was going to quit turkey hunting 4 ever. Thank you lord for allowing me to kill this turkey. An experience i will share for generations to come.

Adam Lambert is a FREAK!!!!
“I’m here for your entertainment” Just watched Adam’s debut on the American Music awards. O MY GOSH!!!! It was the most nasty vulgar and distasteful thing I may have ever seen!!! If that is Adam’s kind of “entertainment” then I want nothing to do with him!!! I guess he’s trying to make a statement since he was on American Idol this year. Most corporations have a “mission statement” the first commercial that they do, or their first public statement is what they are all about. First words are “So hot out of the box” He’s saying here i am right out of the box and here is the message that I convey. If this is his mission statement, if this is what hs is all about then I am really disappointed!!! If this is what his career is going to entail then Madonna and Brittany will have nothing on him!!!
What is so sad is all the millions of little girls and boys in our society that fell in love with Adam on American Idol. Parents please pay attention to what your children listen to!!! Great Hunting day!!!!!!!
It was a good day in the hunting world. I took Chase Treece, one of my students, deer hunting today. This was Chase’s 3rd time time to hunt deer EVER. His first time to shoot at a deer and here is what he harvested…
Yes that’s right he killed 3 deer!!!! (just in case you are wondering, YES it is legal!! We can kill 3 does and 1 Buck a day.) It was a HUGE rush!!!

Please pray….
Please pray for the Krause family and the family of Jeffery Roden. Yesterday my buddy Jeffery Roden died and today at 3:48, 23-year-old Matt Krause ( http://prayformattkrause.blogspot.com ) went to be with the Lord due to complications from a car accident Sunday morning.
As every day passes i really realize just how short life is and how we are all just passing through. This world is not my home!!! The More people who I know in Heaven the more homesick I get!!
VS. 1616With a loud command and with the shout of the chief angel and a blast of God’s trumpet, the Lord will return from heaven. Then those who had faith in Christ before they died will be raised to life.
— God will come down with a loud voice, A SHOUT!!!
1st audible voice of God that we will hear.
These words will close one age and open another
I wonder what the command will be?
I could be completely wrong, but I believe that the 2 words that will call us to heaven, the words that will put an end to the pains of this earth and a beginning to the joys of heaven will be……..
No more!!!!!
The kings of kings will raise His nail pierced hands and say NO MORE!!!!!
The angels will all stand as the Father says, NO MORE!!!!
Every person that is living or that has ever lived (those in heaven, those in the grave, those in hell) will look toward heaven and hear the words NO MORE!!!!

Hold On…..
I know it’s been a while….. but here goes.
Romans 8:38-40 (New Living Translation)
38 And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[a] neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. 39 No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.
I am SOO glad that NOTHING can separate us from the love of God!!! Not death, or demons, or worries or fears or the coolest part, “not even all the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love.” God’s love is more powerful than all Satan has to throw at us.
The last 10 days have been some of the hardest days in my life!! I had to bury one of my students, 18 years old. Also, my favorite uncle in the world died. I will miss Uncle Danny so much!!! but i have come to realize that God’s grace is sufficient in all my weakness and sorrows and hurt. He is bigger than all that we can or will go through!!! I am thankful that we have a God of grace!!!
There is a Daniel Doss song called “Hold On”. God has really used this song in the last few months in my life. The chorus goes like this, “Hold On, it will not be long till its all over, Hold on lay your weary head upon my shoulder”. That is what God wants us to do sometimes. Here’s a video of the song.
So whatever your going through, let God hold you in his infinite arms. With His infinite grace.
